Please be careful! Most accidents involving motor bikes happen to people within the first 6 months of getting one. If your over 45 the chances double.Last edited by sparkeyjames; 07-13-2008, 05:27 PM.Comment

Rides
My primary ride these days is my RANS V-Rex recumbent:

The alternate is my Kymco People 150 scooter:

About the only time I drive the truck in when there's a bad thunderstorm, or for hauling lumber.

That link is to a file still on your hard drive. The only way we could see it is with your IP address, a route through your firewall and some routing info about your network. :P It would be easier to publish it to your album on here or something like photobucket.com.

I don't know why this just occurred to me, but "Rod Vespa" would be a pretty good adult film star name. Just a thought in case you want to get into a new career.Jeff

Not sure this link will work, but a Vespa is just a little small for my fat behind... I am wanting something more like this 1200cc monster from BMW...

I can grab one locally about 2 years old, for $8,500 U.S.D. Add to that the helmet, proper riding gear, insurance, and a motorcycle safety refresher class. (it's been 18 years since I last rode...), I am probably looking at $10,500.00
With these stupid gas prices that might be a bargain! Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

Congrats Rod - you are gonna have fun!
I used to drive a similar Vespa in my youth, but not as powerful. I think 150cc. Have you driven one before? IIRC, the Vespa's engine is off-center, ie, not right below the driver/pillion seat, but to the right of the scooter. which means you have some learning to do about keeping it balanced, particularly if you have driven a regular motorcycle/scooter before! Is this a 'kick start' one? That off-center engine's weight used make the 'kicking' real wobbly for the first week or so, till one got used to it.
Btw, guys, I believe Rod said the mileage was 39 km/liter when driven at 60Km/hr. In US-ese, that's 90 miles/gallon (US gallons) when driven at speeds of 37 mph. For a scooter, that's pretty high speed, and great mileage for anything with a 250cc engine! It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

That's pretty cool Rod! You're going to wonder why you didn't do it 45 years ago.

dbhost, you might check into what kind of mileage the BMW gets. I was surprised, when talking at the pump to a motorcyclist, that some of them do worse than my Camry. His comment: "Well, I can weave through rush hour traffic, and my time is worth more than the gas."- David
