    I'll remember New Year's Eve 2008!

5:00pm - Pain down my left arm, cold sweat, nausea, felt like I had an elephant lying on me - may sound familiar to some.

Carole called 000 (= Oz 911) Ambulance 3 minutes later operated on 40 minutes later

I'm home now - 4 days in hospital - with 2 new super-dupa teflon coated stents.

A heart attack is NOT fun.

The upside is - I've never felt better - just got to make a few lifestyle changes - with a few pushes from Carole

Nice to get a second chance.

WOW Rod. Glad you are still among us and feeling better! At least you got out of the 100°+ outside weather.

Keep us posted. If you need to talk to someone while Carole "coaxes" you in your lifestyle changes, we are here!

Rod, we're glad you're still here among us.
Carole, take care of him and tell him that Dec 31 was still 2007.

Rod is either thinking prophetically (hopefully not) or the medicine is doing its work!

Actually, it's a Freudian thing. When he says "I'll remember NYE 2008", it's because he'll still be around then.

Jeez, Rod... That sux. But I'd trade places with ya. At least you got a wake-up call. I had (apparently, from what they tell me) a "silent" attack, back who-knows-when, who-knows-where. I never felt anything at all, and never lost any function whatsoever. The damage was discovered on a routine EKG, and I was way too far along for stents. So I have a zipper on my chest, and a plumber's nightmare inside. Would rather have had some kind of "nudge" like you got.

Rod, take care of yourself and get serious about the changes in lifestyle.

You know the first one has to be the smokes! Talk to your Doc about putting you on Chantix. They aren't magic pills, but the closest thing there is. You still have to want to quit. I started them 3 weeks ago and haven't had a cigarette in 2 as of yesterday. No withdrawal and don't have the desire for them.

                Rod,

I am glad that you are still here to contribute and post your wonderful projects. Also I am glad to hear that things went well for you. Listen to your wife and doctor and get to feeling better.

Those problems can sneak up on you. Glad to hear it was just a nudge.

At first, when I saw the thread title, I htought it was going to be about the record heat you reported on in an earlier post. Wish that were the case! Glad you are are doing all right now Rod. Be sure you listen to the "nudges" or they might turn into a wack upside the head!

Oh, so THAT explains the sudden dip in MDF futures!

Rod, if ever there was a "There's bad news, and there's good news ..." post, yours has to be it. Glad to read that all seems well for now, and we all know you can handle those changes. There's nothing like a serious medical emergency to show a person what he can and cannot do.
