I still don't have power nor does any of my town have power. We happen to be at the end of our power company's territory. They have two other towns to get power up, before they get to the big city of Weir. The only encouraging sign so far is that there was one tree trimming truck in town last night. My power company is reporting 33,000 still without power, down from over 60,000.

I was in Joplin last night, as Home Depot was unloading a truck load of generators. They were going out the front door almost as fast as they could unload them. I will give the Borg some credit on this one. Instead of jacking up the price, They were selling generators that normally sell for about $1299 for $999. I passed on it, I will just have to wait it out.
The forecast is for 4" to 6" of snow this Friday and Saturday. I might have a while to wait.

I saw snow in VEGAS! And I wasn't even drunk! Have a photo to prove it (well prove the snow, ignore the beverage in my hand).

Ah yes, I remember those days when snow was more than just a picturesque mountain scene. Those cozy winter days with no power and ice skating in the street. It was digging out the car that brings back the best memories.

Having grown up in Minnesota, I have a great sympathy for Dakotans. I always figured it was like having Minnesota weather, but without any lakes or trees!

I moved to Michigan to get away from the harsh winters. We actually get more snow here (lake effect) but it tends to run about 10 degrees warmer. Just enough that when I get behind on the driveway and the ice starts to build up, I can count on it melting within a week or three. In Minnesota, if you ever get behind you are out of luck until at least May.

Believe it or not, that is Seattle, Washington. They don't get much snow there because of the Pacific. I lived in that area for a few years and confirm that some of the natives are rather challenged when it comes to winter driving. Never could figure out why "When your wheels start spinning, take your foot off the gas!" is such a hard concept to understand.
