Just sent $25 thru PayPal. I just hope the car gives them as much pleasure as BT3Central gives me.

Just a thought about this donation, that any overage (if you wanna call it that) will probably offset whatever taxes Sam will be liable for considering the income. Isn't this a reportable income?

Based upon my memory, which is ever failing, gifts under $10k do not have to be reported to the IRS.

                  BT3Central,

Wow. How inadequate the words "thank you" seems right now.

In order to truly express my feelings and gratitude, I would have to violate one of the foundational rules I established for BT3Central, to avoid topics on religion. However, for me to not adequately express those feelings to each of you would be inexcusable. So, if you are so inclined, I humbly invite one and all to read An Open Letter to My BT3Central Family.

I will try to make a daily reply to this thread and make status reports on the donation total and will also report the end results. I had the facts wrong about the Volvo wagon that I originally mentioned to the individuals who launched this "campaign" so I will be shopping for another vehicle. Rest assured that a gloat post will be made when the new BT3Mobile is purchased!

Current amount: $1090 via PayPal + an undetermined amount in mailed checks

This was a question of mine. I will be sure to check with an accountant regarding the tax liability and plan accordingly. BT3Central is not a corporation and therefore does not have a tax ID number. My SSN is the tax ID so I report all of the BT3Central Fund Drive as income on my taxes every year and then claim the server bills and DSL bills as expenses. I doubt I could justify a "company car" for BT3Central.

                      $25 sent via paypal.

It is a small price to pay for all the knowledge and Ideas I've gained from this site. This extra money is made possible from info on bargain alerts

I figure I could have donated at least twice as much if it weren't for the post on "bargin alerts"

Everybody know that just looking at Bargain Alerts can become a budget buster...

It looks as if we're about halfway there.

Only if someone claims it as a donation on their taxes which probably is not allowed anyway. And the $10K and less rule applies. What Uncle don't know won't hurt him.
