I'm in - hang in there you two. Hopefully, you'll be able to look back at all this and smile someday.

            No tax on gifts

The recipient of a gift has no tax liability at all, period. The only potential liability is for the giver, if he or she exceeds $10K per year to any opne individual. Basically, that law is in place to make sure that the really wealthy don't pass too much money on to their heirs via gifts and escape the estate tax.

Omar, there are no little parts here. Whether you sponsored the oil dip stick, one of the windshield wipers, a battery cable or anything else, the idea of a car in general, and this one in specific, is that its the totality of seemingly insignificant pieces that counts.

Sponsoring the keys is only five bucks but completely essential, and I'm guessing Sam and Adele produce mental smiles for that donor on a regular basis.

Yes! (I wish my genetic family's beancounter were as prompt, compassionate, and concerned.)

I was going to offer to buy the first tank of gas, but I can't afford $800.

I will, however, put a check for a somewhat lesser amount into today's mail. There's a cliche that says something about the highway of life being littered with speed bumps. It's great to see the members of BT3Central helping to make sure that's all this will be for Sam and Adele ... just a speed bump.

                          A little

Add another $25.00 from a DarkSider. I hope that everything works out, and that things start to brighten up for you.

I'm glad so many of us could help out. It's the least we can do for our friends.

I know that Sam and Adele have not spent as much time on BT3central recently as they have in the past, for reasons listed in Sam's letter, but everytime I visit this site I feel a connection to them.

Good luck and back on your feet soon!
