So, I have been married to the same woman for 27 years and to this day I just don’t think I will every completely understand her.
Here is an example (like in today) to the statement I made above. I guess it has been about two to three weeks now that my right rear tire on my almost new truck has been losing pressure. I would say that within 3 days it is pretty flat but I have not done anything about it other than to refill it with air. I have been threaten to fix it but then I ended up with Poison Oak (Helping her by the way and Wow having that stuff sucked!) went on a business trip to Seattle and have just been busy.
So last night she informs me she is going to the hair salon this morning for a cut and such and why don’t I get that tire fixed while she is gone. Well now you have to understand my history but one of my young man jobs was working at a tire place and all my life I had pretty much did everything that I could for myself and by myself. So with that I tell her I will take the tire off and have a look at it. Well you would have thought I whipped the cat! (I don’t have one but you get the idea) I start hearing stuff like “You’re too old to be doing that kind of stuff anymore, it’s too hot and humid to do that yourself” and so on. So I say “Well I don’t want to pay for something simple and I don’t know if I trust them to fix it right anyway if I don’t know the problem” so then she reaches in her purse and pulls on a $20 hands it to me and tells me to go get it fixed and then calls me a tight wad!
Ok, fast forward she leaves to go to her hair appointment and I get dressed and go outside to look at the problem with my tire. I look all around the tire which is relatively easy on a truck and find a 1/8” shiny spot which I will assume is a nail or a screw. So I jack up the truck, pull the tire off and sure enough it is a screw and the hole is nice and round so I decide to plug it (I could have left the tire on for this but I wanted a good look at the damage) and yes I have the tools and materiel’s necessary for such a repair on hand and even had a few “Self Vulcanizing Plugs” in my tool box. I get it all plugged and aired up, tested and back on the truck and all is good and I am happy.
The wife gets home a bit ago and says “Well the tire looks fixed” and I said “Yeah, I pulled it off and plugged it” well Oh My GOD you would have thought you were watching a scene from the Exorcist! Anyway to spare everyone what transpired next and the language that was used since this is a family forum suffices to say she is rather unhappy with me and with all that she even wanted the $20 back!
So now I sit here pondering the female mind wondering how long it will be before I am allowed to speak to her again.
