Retired from law enforcement (Captain, Anchorage Police Department), worked for a few years developing a security business in the Russian Far East. I am now a "practising aingiseoir." "Aingiseoir" is Celtic Irish for curmudgeon. I will stand for my certification in a few months and, hopefully will become a certified curmudgean at that time.

We all figured there had to be one out there somewhere.
So now I can say "it's not rocket science, but I know one who does it".

IT Site Manager (Infrastructure and Application Development groups)

I came up as a technical type and was bumped up a few times to eventually manage the department. It pays the bills, but I actually enjoyed my previous positions more since more time was spent actually doing something productive rather than dealing with bureaucracy. I've been at the same company almost 9 years now counting some contract work I did before being hired so it may be time to start looking for a change.

Special Education Teacher. I have been teaching for the last 13 years, only the last four in Special Education. Prior to that, i was an Information Systems Analyst with the Sheraton Hotel Chain. I was burned out in three years and went into teaching. It was the best thing that I ever did.
