    Forum Software Upgrade

Sometime in the next couple of weeks we will be upgrading the forum software to the most current version. I will update this with more information once it is scheduled.

Thanks for your patience during the outage when this is happening.

Thanks to you Mark and all the others who keep the site running like a well oiled and waxed table saw.

If you need some help with the re-skining, do let me know.

Thanks! Will it also include changing to new site name?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Pretty please with a cherry wood plug on top?

Are you planning on changing the skin/theme? The current color scheme is easy enough on the eyes.
The skin will change in the future. The upgrade should improve mobile browsing. We will see about the rest.

The site name will remain the same. What will happen though is in the not to distant future the site will have two names, one site. Perhaps the two names will be incorporated into one for example "SawDustZone.com the home of BT3Central.com" and then both urls will point to the same place. I do not anticipate ever losing the BT3Central part.

I'll raise a pint to the ones that actually perform the work.

Twistsol and dbhost have both played major roles in getting this done. My role as Admin pales in compairision to what they are doing. We are hiring the actual work out to the software developer.

Just a question about the changes: Will the new software or change over allow a "Thumbs Up" or "Like" to appear on a post?

Many times, I would have used this feature on this forum for different posts if it were available here. Any plans for this?

                    I do not think so.

I have not noticed a problem, did you maybe change a browser setting?

I hope so but am not sure. if it is not built in I am confident we can add it as an emoticon and then lower the minimum character per reply setting. I have wished for that feature as well.

Nothing on my browser has changed that I can tell. I'm using IPad 2 Air with Safari browser. Other Changes are I can't go back, like that option has changed, I have to select the home button to call the list up. I'm ok with it as is and will continue to enter password as things like this usually have a way of working theirselves out.

Well, this weekend DBHOST and I got all our I's and T's in a row and the ducks are dotted and crossed. I sent off all the details to the technical people at vBulletin and the upgrade should happen this week.

I'll post again as soon as they come back with a specific date and time.

Due to unforeseen issues with migrating what we have now to the new software we are still trying to work out the details. We are making progress and will update when there is more information.
