I'm up early all week and sleeping in on weekends usually mean six am. I usually go for a long brisk walk while most are still snoring. This morning was no exception. I was walking past a yard sale that was just setting up when from the corner of my eye I spotted a lathe in tell-tale grey. The home owner wanted to try turning, bought the lathe, and promptly found she was allergic to sawdust! They moved house with it a couple of times and just wanted rid of it. So I ask, "How much"?. When he replied, "$20", I had my wallet out and was running home to get the van. It's a 3400 and looks in decent shape, and man is it heavy and solid! Came with the drive spur, a face plate, a set of chisels, and it's already hooked to a 1/2 horse motor. It's in the shop sitting on a couple of shopmates for now. It need some cleaning, I need to build a proper stand, get a link belt, and I want to rewire the motor with a switch. Enough of my rambling; here's a couple of quick pictures I took.

I was wondering how you got it past the 'family friendly' rule.....)
I assume its old enough to have predated such newfangled safety features but somehow in the last 50 years or so I think they have been mandatory.
