    any progress/updates? I'm only doing pens right now, but will venture out to small bowls in the future, been watching this thread for a lot of info thanks

      Well.... My walnut bowl is still in the chuck and not quite finished yet. I hope to finish it (if I get enough courage to work on it again) by next week.

      But I did finish another bowl, made of a wood named Catalpa, which is not as dense as walnut. I finished it with mineral oil because I want it food safe, but one of the turners just told me that properly cured oil (tung, walnut, or Danish) will work as well.
