If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Looks to be well made. If it was a production item I would suspect that the pulleys would be plastic and have enough guards that you couldn’t use it! For a starter sander this might be a good one only if it uses a belt that can be easily purchased. If no belts are available it would be a no go. I’ve Click image for larger version

ID:	859890 had several of the cheaply manufactured 1x24 and 1x36 belt sanders that I have given to friends that were making knives. My current belt sander is a 1x42” Grizzly that I have set up with massive dust controls. Honestly though, I don’t use it any more than the 2 previous sanders.

Looks like s safety hazard. no Guards of any kind

Belt sizes are metric 330 mm x 30 mm. I see some 330 x 30 mm belts (13" x 1.2" ) on Amazon so it is not a completely odd size.

It’s probably not as much of a safety problem, as in grabbing a finger. It would definitely grab a loose neck tie though, that’s the reason I never wear a tie in my shop. It would definitely be a dust bomb!

It might just be the cats meow for small fine work!
I’m past that now and need tools that have the power and ability to cut wood like an asphalt road resurfacing machine.
