Anyone know about Ridgid TS 2412 1?

    Hey guys ---- long time!

So ------ Durango Dude (who was in Wheeling) is now in East Tennessee.

Wheeling was neat - but East Tennessee is more like Durango (at least as far as views go).

My vintage Craftsman (1957) is getting a little tired - and a local "For Sale" ad came up with a Ridgid TS2412 for $250.

I'd say this saw is around 20 years old. Obviously doesn't have the same cast iron top that I enjoy on my Craftsman.

Looks like an Emerson motor on the back side

What was the rigid saw with the granite no rust top?

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

That was the R4514. Identical to the R4512, but with Granite instead of Iron.

The 2412 is an old style contractor saw that has the motor hanging out the back with a long belt. The 4512 is a hybrid with a short belt and fully enclosed cabinet.
The Rip fence is different, (Couldn't tell if it is better or worse since I use an Incra TS/LS and never mounted the Ridgid fence.)
      The 4512 has a built in herc-u-lift.
The 2412 has a fixed height spreader for the blade guard that mounts to the back of the saw whereas he 4512 has an adjustable hight riving knife that travels with the blade and can be set to a low position for non through cuts.
The R4512 also added really inconvenient onboard storage for blades and wrenches

They both have cast iron tops and stamped steel wings.
They both have 13 amp 1.5hp motors.

In 2009 they were all saying this saw used was overpriced at $400 and should be selling for around $200. And that was back in 2009 when the saw model was 10 years old.

Now its 20 years old and they want $250?

This one in 2006 was selling for $125
