New Bandsaw, at least to me.

A friends father was a woodworker, mainly making violins. He passed quite a few years ago and his tools have been just lying there. His wife kept them around mainly for sentimental value but over the last year or so she has been happy for some of them to come and live with me so they will continue to be used and make things for many years to come. Most of the larger items I have but I decided to make room for this little Inca bandsaw. Inca was a Swiss manufacturer long since gone out of business and believe they were an excellent tool. Never seen one before but I figured if I give this some TLC it can stay setup for the more scroll type activities leaving my large PM for the heftier resaw work and the like.

I did just find an old Yahoo users group which I have applied to for member ship but does anybody know anything about these?

Is that a left handed saw?

If its left handed like that it will take blades that are also left handed. I don't think you can twist a bandsaw blade inside out, or I haven't tried it anyways.

Do they even make blades for that saw anymore? I wonder if this was a case of VHS vs Beta.

Good point although if you go to www.bandsawbladesdirect.com its interesting to note that all the photos seem to be of "left handed" blades. Given that many places weld to order I am not sure it matters. I guess I will find out.

+1. Nice score Jon. All bandsaw blades can be turned. In fact, in the uncoiling of a blade from its compact shipping coil, it may come out either left or right handed. Just take care to use gloves and face protection, as they tend to "spring" a little erratically in the uncoiling.

I use bandsawbladedirect too, especially for their Lenox blades. The little 10in Ryobi I have takes a now-unusual blade length of 62 inches, I just bought a bunch of them custom, so you should have no problem.

Good to confirm that. The saw does have 2 blades with it but dont know what condition they are in. I will give it a basic clean this weekend and see how it runs before I decide to take it apart for a major overhaul and service.

Lots of places make blades to order, not a problem to get blades for it.

I have the 710, the 20" larger cousin of this one. It is perhaps the most accurate bandsaw I have ever used, very happy with it.

There are some Inca groups that are fairly active, and most parts are still available.
