replacement filter for Jet air cleaner?

I have a ceiling hung Jet air cleaner. I try to keep the inside and outside filters clean but I think I'm at the point where I need at least a new outside filter. The filter claims to be 12" x 24" but it's actually 11.5 x 23.5. Of course, nothing at the Borg fits. What do you do?

    Thanks
    Paul

My delta was a little undersized to the standard HVAC 12x24 filters, too. I Disassembled one (Just cardboard) and made it a tiny bit smaller, folder the corners and jammed it in.

THe other possibility is that I don't think those cheap filters are very tight olerance on size... maybe go around and measure 12x24 filters at a bunch of hardware stores untill you find ones that are a bit small. Buy several then.

Do a search on Amazon for "Nordic Pure 12x24 filter". I recently bought some MERV 12's for my Delta cleaner, which also needs 11.5 x 23.5 filters. They seem to be working great, and fit like a glove. They also carry different MERV rating filters from this manufacturer.

Did you actually try those filters from HD/Lowes? I believe the issue here is the 'nominal' size and actuals, like in lumber, and those filters should fit. I bought mine from Lowes, and I don't remember doing any special search.

I googled and found all the 12x24 filters seem to have your actual size. This site seems to be cheapest.

Well, I don't shop at Lowe's anymore. However, when I was at HD, I borrowed one of their tapes and measured all their 12x24s and all their 12x12s. The 12x24s were 11.75x23.75 and the 12x12s were 11.75x11.75. The one thing I neglected to do was measure the actual size of the Jet filter. I'm thinking I'll probably be OK if I just scrunch the filter in.

            Edit--

OK, call me Chicken Little today. I just measured the Jet filter and it is 11.5x23.5. However, the opening is 11.75x23.75 so I think I'll be OK.

yea, a little internet research which I should have done years ago told me there are actually two measurement systems for air filters.
Filters with an "actual" size of 12x24 will be exactly that.
FIlters with a "nominal" size of 12x24 will be slightly less, like 11.5 x 23.5 or so.

That explains why I sometimes have to jam my furnace/AC filters into the frames! And sometmes they fit just so.

So I can confirm that the <$4 Reem 12x24 filter is a perfect replacement for the circa 2005 Jet air filter. Maybe I should go stock up.

I'm not so sure. I picked up one at HD- green label, "FPR4", with HD logo printed on the cardboard edge. It measures 11.75" x 12.75" , and, at least for my Delta, it fit- but only by buckling the edges.

Don't know what to tell you. I guess the Delta and Jet are just different. No buckling necessary with the Jet

This is the one I bought
