    sharpenening services prices

Here's a list of sharpening services available in my area. They come by once a week and pick up at the hardware stores. They bring it back the same day next week so you are looking at a 7-13 day turnaround.

carbide saw blades not too bad.
Carbide dado, not sure what they mean double row vs single row???
Carbide router bits - almost cheaper to buy new ones, why do they 66% more charge more for 1/2" shanks? Not sharpening the shanks! SHould charge by the diameter.
    Planer knives could get expensive
    Forstner bits, $15each??? wow.

they do chisels and turning tools, too.

How does it compare with your locale?

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I know everyone is going to jump up and down and holler foul, but again I am dragging out the old Harbor Freight circular saw sharpener (991028). I use mine to sharpen most of my blades with good luck. Saying that, I do not run a blade until it won't cut any more, I change them frequently. This way I am not re-grinding the carbides, just touching it up, bringing back the crisp edges. The major complaints that I have seen with this tool is the rough finish caused by the diamond blade. I don't care if it is rough, I can not tell It cut from when the blade was new, it may need re-sharpening sooner than a new or pro sharpened blade, but I will just swap it out with another of my home sharpened no cost to me blades. By just touching up the blade and not removing much carbide I guess that I will get dozens of re-sharpens out of each blade. The sharpener comes with a dinky blade holder but like most on this forum I chunked it and replaced it with a stout holder made out of a piece of pine. Counting the sharpener and replacement diamond blades that I may never have to use I figure that to date my blades cost me a buck each to re-sharpen.
