If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Yeah, Dremel, stupid auto correct on my Android...

My phone is dead right now so the pics are captive until I get it charged up, but...

I got it home, threw a new Bosch 15 TPI blade at it, tensioned the blade and went at it...

        Nice tight CLEAN cuts...

I now need to figure out how to get 10 years of nasty grime off of this saw!

I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

                What type of grime?
My experience is 409 or Simple Green work for most greasy/oily/dusty buildups. Liquid dishwasher detergent, or powder laundry detergent (I use Tide), also work well for oils. I use ScotchBrite sponges with the green plastic scrubby side. That scrubby side can scratch/dull some paints if you work it too hard though. The blue sponges might be softer - "no scratch" they claim; I just bought a pack to test.

                congrats on the deal.

I found a cleaner at HD that is a "commercial cleaner and degreaser" by Rubbermaid. It does a fantastic job cutting and leaves no residue that I can see. I've used it to clean the oil & packing off of new tools. Simply spray it on and wipe it with a paper towel. I follow up with a coat of paste wax. If it helps, it's orange in color.

Okay, as promised, here's the pics...

The motor / fan cover I repainted when I got it home. It had faded to white in the sun (it was stored close to a shop window for a LONG time...

The last pic is a close up of the gunk that is on the saw. I think I am going to try Simple Green at first, I have it so no added cost...

It's not super pretty, but it sure runs like a sewing machine, and cuts exactly how I expect it to...

The plywood base it is on will be leaving. It's the wrong size. I need to cut a 24" x 18" 3/4 plywood base to go with my stacker system..

Nope, the somewhat too prevalent Android auto correct Thong... I am REALLY starting to HATE this feature!

Not a bad score. Isn't the table aluminum? Did it come with the plain end blade holders? I broke one of my holders a few years ago and haven't found a replacement. There are some pretty small plain end blades available.

I have that same saw. It was my very first powertool purchase. I got it back in college for making architectural models. It logged hundreds of hours of use between myself and a lot of other students in my studio classes, and it's still running strong. Love the dual speed and especially the blower. I took the guard off a long time ago.
