What did Santa Claus bring you this year?

In my case, Santa's little elf took full advantage of a Woodcraft clearance, and brought me the Groz FP6, and JP7 planes. I know Groz planes are a mixed bag of machining sometimes, but so far, out of the box they look good. I didn't try lapping the sole, flattening the frog or anything like that yet, just cleaned the LARGE quantities of cosmoline off of the planes, checked flatness with known good and trusted straight edges, and then set the blade depth and took a few swipes with each. No blade chatter at all on either, nothing to cause any concerns at all aside from an obvious need for honing the blades as they are plenty dull. I did pop the dogs in the bench and took a few swipes at a mildly warped piece of oak I got from Home Depot a few years ago, decent shavings spilled out of the plane, and before I knew it, flat, wide lumber. Especially with the #6...

There was also a small assortment of the regular chocolates in the stocking, and a Rush Bass tab book... I think that one is a hint. I haven't played in too long...

So what did Santa leave under the tree with your name on it this year?

Santa left me no woodworking tools (must have been naughty), but I did get a Ryobi Supercharger, some Woodstock files and a Lowes GC.

Santa Cochese is going to have to work on the chisels or jigsaw that I didn't get.
I have a little blog about my shop

All of the hints that I dropped to LOML paid off.

Believe it or not! My shop has all the tools I need, want, or covet. Also, the wife learned years ago that I am too particular to be buying tools for. So she went waaaaaay outside the box this year.

I am now a share holder of the Packers. A very minor, in truth insignificant share holder. No voting, no dividends, no preference for tickets, no nothing other than the "Packer Pride." I've been a fan since the '50's as they were the closest team to Alaska and I liked the idea of community ownership. They were losers then but, they were my losers.

I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger and buy a share a couple of years ago when there was another sale. This year I passed again. My wife totally surprised me on this one. She's a Chicago born Bears fan. An avid one. Still, she sucked it up, went to the Packer's site, answered all the questions and gifted me with the share.

Now I just need to find the coach's e-mail address and start giving him my brilliant insight into how the game should be played. I will also exercise my ownership rights with all sorts of really great game winning strategies. How long since any of you have seen a drop kick or handles on the running back's jersey? Leather helmets? High top shoes?

        I'm just getting started!

my son gifted me with an Intel i5 2500K CPU. My wife is going to buy me the rest of the computer (Mobo, video card, memory and case/PS)... she just doesn't know it yet. I already have the 2TB drive and a pair of SATA DVD drives.

We were blessed with our first grandchild this past summer so of course all our $$$ went to buy presents for him and start the "spoiling process".

Richard.................., this did manage to find its way to under our tree.

Got me a Grizzly G0555P BandSaw and some good blades on the way! I got it on Thursday the 22nd and put it together that day. From the 23rd, I played with it and did considerable cutting for scrap wood for pen and bowl blanks. Hooked the HF DC that I bought last Father's day to it and it does great.

I got two of the HF tool chests in November, but I didn't consider them as "presents" - they were for immediate needed organization of on-hand tools! Even LOML is proud of me having those because now when she wants something done, it doesn't take a day to get all the tool together from a half a dozen small tool boxes or from drawers. She is most happy that I have moved two large hand tool boxes out of the bedroom closet!

No woodworking tools for me, either -- like Warren, I have pretty much everything I want (aside from the remainder of the Lie-Nielsen catalog, of course) -- but I did get some requested enhancements to my mechanics' tools collection. Also a stationary bicycle trainer, a cycling jersey, "The King's Speech" on Blu-ray, and far more calories-laden goodies than I need, mostly of the chocolate persuasion.

My main gift (a family gift to myself) is a Nikon P500 camera. My son got me a nice knife and my daughter got me a BMW umbrella (quite pricey but nice - typical for BMW). I also got some gift cards, cookies, candy and some dried fruit (my favorite of the food stuff). And a game. Did pretty well.

My family members, often, buy me pieces of wood for holidays. This piece is 7" X 10" X 1 1/2"

It doesn't know what it wants to be yet. It is Amboyna Burl.

DB I have had a Groz 4 for over three years. It works amazingly well. Suprisingly, the iron holds a good edge. http://www.bt3central.com/showthread...highlight=groz

Wow that piece of Amboyna Burl is beautiful! Can't wait to see what you make.

The WW Santa brought me a Dewalt variable speed random orbital sander (to replace my older Makita 1/4" sheet sander), my choice of a woodworking class at Rockler or Woodcraft, and a subscription to a scrollsaw magazine. I'd like to take both the bandsaw box making and regular box making class, so one will have to wait until later.

                              Nothing!

He's still mad about that scare a few years ago. I tried to tell him I was deer hunting and not trying to shoot him.

Not my fault he was that close to a herd of 8 good deer.
