I would prefer whichever router a semi clad young lady would bring to me.

Herb...he said "desert island"...not deserted. What's a desert island anyway?

I voted Porter Cable because of a general feel good when using them - they seem to be better designed for the user, with somebody putting thought on things like '...when the user is holding this in a right hand, s/he should be able to reach with the left to ...' and so on for the various features. They even seem better 'balanced' in the hand. And I have tried both heavy routers and trim just to try this out.

I had to vote Bosch because my hand held work horse is the 1617EVSPK. That done, for light trim work, my prefered go to is an old Rockwell model 100. The Hitachi M12V sits in the router station with on older Craftsman hanging off the BT.

Bosch 1617, with real maple wood handles, no less. I have 2 of them, what more could you want?

ASUS, but with TomatoUSB firmware. If we're talking enterprise level though, definitely not Cisco. Too many bugs/limitations to work around.

I still need to add more woodworking routers, but i think i'm good for the moment on the network routers.

Milwaukee. I like the one handed grip and soft start. Large nuts on the collet and that collet is deep! Easy height adjustment and the soft start, did I mention that? is really a nice feature.

Second choice, Linksys, it, like the Milwaukee hasn't given me any trouble.

The picture sure looks like beech and not maple?

                            Bosch Handles

The article on wood central defininately loks like maple, but the picture you posted is Beech.

So far I have only owned Ryobi (decent enough, but no 1/2" collet), B&D (wouldn't wish that dangerous POS on my ex brother in law...), Craftsman, and Hitachi... I have used most of the big names though. Bosch, Porter Cable, Ridgid, Freud. Never seen a Triton up close and personal though...

What I am shocked by is there aren't more votes for Hitachi... I can't imagine being happier with a router than I am with my KM12VC...

Based on my miter saw, I'd own another Hitachi tool. I just found a good deal on my Cman 17543, then found an outstanding deal on my 28084 three base. I love the D-sub.

Otherwise I also have this for small/quick jobs:
                                http://www.ryobitools.com/catalog/18...er_rotary/P600

I've tried up to a 3/4" rabbet bit in it and haven't thought twice.
I have a little blog about my shop
