    SGK1 video

Thought some of you might like to see this. It's my first one of this type. There will be more, but would like some feedback on it so I can make corrections and additions in subsequent efforts.
    Thanks, Guys.

That's a good video, being a Bass player as well, I couldn't help but pay more attention to the smooth bass groove of the background music... Nice selection...

Good video, did you do the modeling and animation yourself? You might add something about the top of the riving knife being just below the top of the blade. I didn't know the pawls were able to be locked up. Is that something new?

I haven't used my SGK1 much yet, but I really like the way the clamp comes off and on the knife now. A 1/4 or half turn of the knobs is all I need. On my previous SG I never got them loose enough for the pins to clear as I went to lift it off. It wasn't that big of a deal, but it's nice to not have to fuss with it anymore.

The ports on the SGK1 change out pretty easily too. I swapped the 4" port for the 2 1/4" fairly quickly.

In my opinion, the text pauses are too long. Perhaps you could display the text at the bottom of the screen while the animation is showing the function, rather than displaying the text and pausing.

The text pauses made the video seem "too long". I was surprised to see the video was between two and three minutes when I checked the run time - it seemed longer. You could probably speed up the animation a bit as well.

Keep in mind that if it goes by too fast for someone, they can rewind and replay that part. It's probably better to have it be a little fast and let the user replay rather than frustrating and losing viewers because the video is "too long".

Some of it may depend on your target audience - I teach to college age students, and they tend to be more impatient than us older folks . If that is a big part of your market, though, it's something to consider. You might need to have two videos, maybe a short (30 second) overview video and a separate detailed (2 minute) video.

Great video Lee, I too would opt for it to be sped up a little, there seemed to be just a bit too much time in between segments. Otherwise, it was very informative.

very nicely done, I agree the pacing was a little slow.

                Hey Lee,

Very nifty piece of animation, I think it perfect as is, and the heck with all the nit-pickers out there. I'd like to see them do better.

Only one minor comment, I hate your choice of a type face.

If you change the typeface, I might even fork up the money for one.

                  Thanks a bunch, Guys.
The advice is just what I was looking for.
I did do a shorter version.
I will leave the longer on up for a bit, but will eventually delete it.
                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LDq7KRI978

I did the modeling and animation in Turbocad. It has an Animation Lab plug in that I used.
The pawls have been spring loaded for several months now. Its a nice feature.
I didn't include that much information on this video.
Just the basics of how a SG works on a riving knife equipped saw.
I will do another very similar, but splitter based.
Then several more eventually highlighting different aspects of it.
These first few videos are an effort to reduce initial questions I have to answer through emails.
I don't mind answering them, there is just a better way.
                  Thanks again, Guys.

                      Thanks.
I think it works better too.
Now another question. What is the best way to show this on my website?
An imbedded link to youtube or host my own video's?
I have only put a couple video's on my site before and they were Flash based.
This one is an Mpeg-4. Keep in mind there will be quite a few more of these.
