    Hf electric chainsaw problem

Bought an HF electric chainsaw 3 mos ago. Worked fine for first use (1 hr); also for 2nd (another hour), but on 3rd, had trouble with both switches--the safety and the trigger, and on the 4th use it took all my strength to force them both to make the saw run. Took it back; HF exchanged it. Now the new one is doing the same. HF has no solution or repair; saw cuts like mad when working. What can I do to correct this problem? (HF denies any other saws being returned for this problem).
    Help, all you geniuses!!

sounds like a design problem, not unheard of in those cheap import tools. Don't know who you talked to at HF, would they really be in the know about product defects? Or just giving the company line?

So try a third one and risk a repeat or return for a refund and cut your losses. HF is known for duds and gems, sound like you got a dud on this one.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

It's from Harbor Freight and it has a cord, what did you expect? I don't hate Harbor Freight and own a few of their tools but I know that whatever I buy there is a crapshoot. All you can really do is keep bringing back the bad ones for exchange until you get one that works properly.

I appreciate this info as I need a chain saw sharpener myself. I have been looking at this one, along with some others that are more expensive, which I would like to avoid if possible.

Judging from the reviews on HFs site, I wouldn't bother. If you can just take the thing back for a refund... The HF electric chain saw sounds like a real dud.

FWIW, the HF electric is the same price as the Remmington @ Walmart. I have had a Remmington 14" for over 10 years now, and it is still chugging along after all the abuse I heap on it. It needs a new chain, but big deal...
