You could probably determine the angle with a protractor.

          odel # D1080X
          Diameter 10"
Machine Use Miter/Slide Miter Saw, Table Saw
          Application Finishing
          Teeth 80 Hi-ATB
          Arbor 5/8"
          Kerf .098"
          Hook Angle 15°

I have used this on much molding without any problem. I can only imagine that a negative hook angle would make it easier for cutting small returns. Are their any other benefits?

Very interesting...their website specifically comments on the special geometry to minimize "grabbing", but the specs show the hook angle at 15°, while the hook angle on the D1060"S" which is specifically for sliding miters saws is shown as 7°. It's also interesting that the pic shown for the D1080X on the Diablo website shows a blade that has a hook angle that's very similar to the Avanti TK806, which we've agreed is in the low to zero degree range. To further muddy the waters, the Diablo D1080X shown on Amazon clearly shows a pic with steeper positive hook angle....at this point I'm a bit puzzled, and suspect that something has changed on the geometry of this blade that has not been clearly updated on their website.

It's possible that there is a newer and older version of D1080X, but I'm not sure which is which. I do note that the pics below have what appear to be different hook angle, and the lettering appears to be gold on the blade with a steeper hook, and white on the blade with the low hook....this is just one big chin rubbing "hhhhmmmm..."

Diablo D1080X from the Freud Diablo website (shows low hook angle):

You've shown two good examples of one high and one low Scott. Someone that didn't understand hook angle should understand at this point. But.. I totally agree that something is "fishy" as the actual pictures cannot fool you. I have sort of weaned away from Freud since they were bought out.

I don't see Charlie Mac post on any forums anymore and that wasn't a positive sign for me personally. Freud has got a million different blades or did have before the buy-out so.. if they are confused as to what they have I certainly don't have time to correct them nor does anyone else probably.

I suppose down-size and re-structure comes at a cost and this may be a prime example.

Have a good day in PA my friend.... my sister-in-laws that are left up your way are both threatening to move down to the sunny south. The same sunny south that saw a light 1/2" snow dusting this morning and 4" two weeks ago. Go figure... I suppose better than the walls of drifts you guys have been getting.

Freud Avanti must be some old stash. I believe Freud has sold the Avanti line and it no longer comes with Freud name.
