    2189 Router table

My Xmas present was the Craftsman 21829 and the Manual states the Router Table was designed for use with "listed" Craftsman Routers however I can't find the "List" can anyone tell me what Routers are compatible? And if possible are there any other than Craftsman ?

they are certain Ryobi routers, or Craftsman "made by ryobi" routers beginning with model no 315.xxxxxx.

as for mounting other routers, read my FAQ (see sig line below).

      Welcome,

Can't help you with a list, but the 21829 hole pattern is the same as the BT3s. http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=44263 There's a bunch of threads in the BT3x forum about router mounting. I'm not sure if it's in the FAQ or not. You ought to drop Loring a PM for the FAQ.

At first I had a Dewalt 618 mounted to a shop made plate on my 21829 router table. I later moved to a custom table insert with a Jessem Router-liftFX. Having a lift with accurate, repeatable adjustments has been great. The stock router fence leaves quite a bit to be desired too. I quickly ditched it for a shop made one. I later picked up another rip fence to dedicate to to my router so I didn't have to keep tearing down router setups in order to use the saw.

I have a Craftsman 17543 router in my 21829 table. I would think that any of the Craftsman ones will work with the hole config on the table. I keep the fixed base on the table and have the plunge base for handheld use.

              Kurt,
The 21829 has multiple hole configs that increase its compatibility. I've used a 17542 in mine, but as Kevincan mentions, the 17543 has the dual base, and you can leave the fixed base mounted. I have heard that the 1754x routers have PC hole configs - but I have not confirmed. If true, that opens up more options.

I've since moved my 17542 to a dedicated router table, and took a chance on a Skil 1825 - bolts right in. So I leave that in full time, and it backs up my router table.
