Anyone have the Harbor Freight drill press extension table (# 96395)

    Does anyone here have this:

Is it worth the $29? I'd like a larger table for my Delta floor standing DP. And my time is worth more than the $29 this one costs. But even though it appears on a couple different "HF gems" lists, I have yet to see any comments about it anywhere.

that looks identical to the ones sold by MLCS (www.mlcswoodworking.com)
    http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shops...rillpress.html
and also by Grizz for $32. http://www.grizzlytools.com/products...ss-Table/H7827

Some people like them, I was not real happy with mine but sold it to DBHOST (dave) and he's been real happy with it.

its OK for smaller DPs like 8-10" and also needs a DP with the handles not too low or they hit the fence.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Anyone have any thoughts if it would fit on my Delta 17-900?

For $32 vs $29, I'll probably just pick it up from Grizz here in town. I like HF plenty, but the Grizz guys always get my cash if the price is close. Their customer service is just great.

I'm not 100% thrilled with it, but it works. I mean the Grizzly table. The melamine covered particleboard isn't even really particleboard or MDF, but rather something more akin to compressed cardboard. The humidity in my shop has caused the thread inserts for where it clamps down to the cast iron table to pull out. I had to Gorilla glue it back in place. After that it's been fine...

If I had it to do over again, I would build my own. Not that the Grizz one hasn't served me well, and I have no intention to build a new one any time soon, but my thought process was pretty much the same as yours. My time was worth more than that...

I don't regret it, and honestly, for the bucks they are asking, it is worth it in materials alone just to get the hardware if you have problems with the table top some years down the road... I think it's worth the gamble... And PLEASE remember that I live about a mile from Galveston Bay, off of the Gulf of Mexico... Where I live is freakishly hot and humid, not good for engineered compressed wood products in the long haul. Loring lives pretty well inland of me, maybe 45 or 50 miles, while still hot and humid, not as much so as right on the coast... You being in Washington State should NOT experience the problems I have...

I would spend the extra $3.00 for the Grizz versus the HF if you don't have to pay shipping. I really like the white melamine versus the dark color skin HF uses...But that is just an aesthetic preference of mine...

Looking at a pic of the Delta 17-900 online, it looks like it should be no problem fitting to your cast table, but the only way to tell for sure is pick one up and try it...

I just picked one of these up. I had the 20% coupon and a $20 gift card, so I only spent maybe $5 on it. For that price, I can't complain. I haven't had a chance to use it much, but I like it so far. I don't like the exposed edges of MDF or whatever it is, but I know I'll never get around to covering it up.

I'll probably build a shorter fence for it with a real T-Track in it. Like others, I saved the time. I am usually for building rather than buying, but having 3 little ones running around, my shop time has become a lot more valuable.
