    Ridgid jointer gloat

Maybe I shoulda posted this under "Bargain Alerts"? Here's the deal: I made a run to my local HD in McKinney, Texas yesterday to pick up some misc. hardware. They had a bunch of stuff left over from Black Friday and tucked next to the piles of screwdrivers, flashlights, etc., was a Ridgid 6" jointer marked down to $321 from the regular $429. I asked if that price was leftover from Black Friday and was informed that it was a clearance item. I was ready to throw some plastic at it. but before I did I asked if there were any left still in boxes. The department manager checked her computer, grinned, and said, "You should buy this now!" I wasn't sure what she meant by that and asked if it was a mistake. She said the actual price at checkout would be lower. When I pressed for the exact price, she quoted $214! DUH! It now sits in my garage where I just finished disassembling and CORRECTLY reassembling the stand, motor mount, etc., that the staff had managed to foul up. I haven't had time yet to check the tables, etc., but at this price I figured it was definitely worth it! The staff wasn't sure if a similar deal would be available at other locations, but if anyone is in the market it might be worth a shot.

Does the phrase YOU SUCK! sound familiar?

Nice grab, I'll have to check the stores around here.

One of the HD stores near me has some of the Ridgid "big" tools sitting forlornly in the corner. I keep hoping that someday I'm going to wander in and see a great deal on the floor models. Perhaps I should check tomorrow to make sure they haven't dropped the price. Though clearance deals seem to be up to the manager at that particular location.

Good find. The jointers are completely gone in my area. They were marked down as low as $107. After that they were marked to .01 which means any left were sent to the crusher.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

congrats on the get. i have the same jointer, only in the gray unit built by emerson electric. got mine 5 years ago in the box for $150. box was marked "missing parts". got it home and after checking it out, all that was missing was the yellow safety switch insert, which ridgid CS sent for free. you are going to like it as it has plenty of power and is easy to use. enjoy and a hearty 'you suck".
