FWIW, from my experience with Dremel products, and HF products, I think HF quality control is tighter... I have had rotten luck with Dremel except for the accessory kits... Those have all been good...

I bought the Dremel this summer. The problem is that the motor vents are right where I hold the tool, blocking the cooling. The motor gets hot if I don't make an effort to hold it in a way that is uncomfortable to me. I used it to trim about 20 feet of roof decking at the soffit, and it took me all day, because I had to let it cool several times. The blades don't last long, and are expensive.

I have the HF model, it works well for shrt quick tasks & can use the blades from just about any other manufacturer, but for the one time I used it with the motor running for an extended period of time, the transmission area seemed to get pretty hot. I'm not going to do that againComment
