    I purchased a used 22114...

I am setting it up per the instructions. I find that when I tilt the blade, after about 30 deg. it seems to bind and make a scraping noise. I have watched it through the height adjustment slot and from the door opening and cannot seem to see what the problem is. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Make sure that the blade is not hitting on the throat plate.

Start by brushing out the gears, then lube with white lithium grease...sprays on, then dries hard and doesn't attract saw dust. Remove the throat insert to be sure you're not binding the blade on it.

Are you sure that it's not the handle binding on the front casing? The best way to see what's happening is to remove the LH side (as seen from the front) - it's only a few screws and you'll get so much more visibility and access, so it really is worth doing.

A really good clean is the first job - airline or small brush, or both. Once all the dust, etc. is gone, apply dry-lube as suggested. The mechanism that turns the handle into the tilt operation must be fully engaged over to the side and remain there throughout, so check that nothing is obstructing that.

Make sure that the parts are clean and operate smoothly and then see how it goes.

might try removing the blade and see if the bind is still there. Elimnates the blade hitting something.

If you have a zero clearance throat plate on the saw, it WILL bind and scrape as you tilt the blade.... Don't ask how I know this....
