Central Machinery #32706 lathe with reversible head.

Does anybody here know anything about THIS lathe?

I have been eyeing one for a while now. Folks seem to say it is a clone of the Jet 1236, and it sure does look like the same castings etc.. that the Jet uses.

THe reviews I have seen on it are almost all VERY good on it. But one thing nobody seems to mention, and oddly enough, not even the HF documentation on it... What is the spindle taper? MT #1, or #2?

I have a rain check for one at $219.99, and can come up with a 20% off coupon, that would give me enough $$ to get the lathe, a PSI 8pc chisel set, and a caliper....

That is the JET 1236 clone . I have the JET ,havnt used one of those but looked at them at the H F store they looked ok to me. I dont know anyone personally that has one.

The one i looked at was a # 2 morse taper.

Dont know if that is much help.

      RTFM???

the link you posted is the HF page. On that page THere's a link to the pdf manual.
In the manual on page 2 "technical specs" its clearly says the headstock spur and tailstock center both have Morse #2 taper.

That lathe seems waaaay better than that stamped steel piece of junk at the bottom of their line (the one that shows up here on Craigslist every other day). I'm still a supporter of name-brands for major equipment, and a definite skeptic when it comes to HF motorized stuff, but at that price, it doesn't look like much of a risk on this unit, so go for it. You won't be out much if you end up not liking it...

Either I am dyslexic, or the pdf I got from them two days ago didn't have that listed in the manual...

Don't rule out the eyes. I am overdue at the othamologists office... Something isn't right...

True, but in all honesty, I have the HF 14" band saw and 2HP Dust Collector and both work great. For the price the lathe is worth a gamble...

This whole HF thing started with a sale on 6" bar clamps for me, it shows no sign of stopping...

Okay I just double checked the HF site, the .pdf file that comes up now is NOT the same file that was linked there two days ago...
