    Response from Ridgid

Here is the response I just received from Ridgid:

    02/17/09 16:29: Jack:

Not something that we have been receiving similar reports of with that table saw. Please provide your complete shipping address and phone number, and we will arrange to ship you a new blade guard assmebly to see if it resolves it. Blade consistancy is pretty good with Ridgid blades, so I would tend to think it may be an unusual iussue with the riving knife metal or coating.

    Best regards,

I think I'd write back and say you measured with calipers and doubt its the blade guard assy which is .086 thick, but that the blade is only .071...otherwise sounds like a waste of time excercise.

Agreed, its a new blade you want not a new splitter.

          I did!

I sent back a response stating the measurements and explained a NEW BLADE was in order. Awaiting reply!

Loring and Jon are right on target as a .071 tooth width is not consistent with anything with exception of a TK circular saw blade. Good luck as it took me two different people to convince that the my Rigid did not have the 27" belt they sent me but had a 25".

Finally upon my insistence... they got to digging and discovered they did indeed make a first design that was 25". Imagine that...

I'd write him back and also inform him that his saw, the TS3660, doesn't have a riving knife.

How does that blade cut w/o the splitter in place?

I'm just curious because the kerf is so thin. I wonder what kind of feed pressure is required and whether the blade deflects with extreme ease.

Because of the thinness of the blade, I will not use it. I'm worried about it's stability.

I picked up the 3660 last week from the Depot. After assembly, I too noticed the Ridgid blade was narrower than the splitter. I thougt I lost my mind, but I am actually happy to know it wasnt me, and others had the same issue. I didnt give it a test drive though, I just took the blade and hung it on the pegboard. Might make a nice clock face someday, thats all its worth. Other than the painful assembly of the Herculift, it was fairly straightforward, once you got used to the SAE bolts with the metric heads. I spent some time indicating the miter, fence scale on the slides (both sides), and blade(not the Ridgid blade!) squareness to the table. It just needed a little tweeking all the way around, but was fairly close right out of the box. Nice, heavy cast top and wings which was one requirement I had, and plus on sale for $399, plus I talked the guy into another $20 off, seeing as though it was on clearence. Absolutely the best contractor grade saw under $700. And a new clock face to boot!!

Ha.. ha... I thought you guys were talking about the new contractor saw Steel City makes but now understand this is the old style they have carried which has a splitter and Steel City has no connection to. Sounds like the guy at Rigid is a bit confused also as he keeps reffering to riving knife.

FedEx dropped off a replacement Ridgid blade today. I haven't measured it yet but it's definitely OEM quality, not like the Ridgid blades that are sold separately. Of course, I didn't really expect an upgrade...

Hang on to the old blade. A day will come when you need to put a .07" groove in something.

I bought this this saw back in Jan. 09 and had the same problem. I am new to using a table saw and didn't know what I was doing wrong- that the ripped stock wouldn't pass by the splitter. The first few runs were dangerous! I can't use the guard unless I'm ripping 1/4 ply with this blade. I emailed RIGID. I hope I can get a new blade from them. Any pointers on how I can get them to send me a replacement?

                                Hey Guys/Gals,

1st very informative site! I have a question for all of you that own the TS3660. I've just put the TS3660 on hold and will pick it up this weekend from HD, and was wondering if anyone here knows if you can make a homemade RK for that model?

                                TIA,
