You know... I have an old Keyback (that retractable janitor key ring thing) from YEARS ago when I managed a full service gas station (Yes I am that old...). I bet I could use some 3M gray foam double stick tape (the automotive grade stuff) to stick it to the side of the DP upper housing, drill an appropriate size hole in the paddle end of the key, and run the ring through it for a reasonably permanent fix...

I thought about storing it in the belt compartment, but I am concerned it might somehow get picked up by the belt and cause all kinds of grief...

By the way Loring, did I count your drill presses up right? 3? That's a LOT of DPs for a home workshop!

You guys are making this WAY too complicated! Drill a hole a little larger than your chuck key t-bar in the front top corner of the lid and put it there. No key-backs, no magnets, just a hole. KISS! (acronym, not action)

i don't use the 8" anymore - I guess I need to sell it again, tried to a while back but had no takers.
Got the 15" 12 speed Hitachi for $100 when Lowes cleared them out-big thread here on that event!

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

What did you price it at Loring?

I don't know why, but when I read that the line from Major League hit me, "Juuuuuuuust a bit outside!" It is unlikely you will ever find a buyer at that price. At least not around here. And if they did pay that much, they really don't have enough sense to be using it!

Simpler yet, tie one end of a length of string to the chuck and the other to the DP post. That's how I bought mine (used) along with a chip brush attached the same way and that's how they've stayed. To get the chuck, all I have to do is find the right string (there are 2) and pull on it.

I don't like dangling strings around my spinning power tool stuff.

As for my DP I figured if i listed for 75 and they offered 50 I'd be happy. Less than 50 I almost feel like i should keep it. So that's where i am.
