    wizard metal scanner

I have this Wizard scanner (see attachment)
    that is out of warranty.
I went to the wizarddetectors.com web page and the phone numbers etc addresses are the same as on the instructions but it appears to have become a marketing and promotion page and they sell scanners on the side. the toll free technical help line was answered by a guy who said they are just on-line sales and they didn't make or repair metal scanners.

the e-mail address (info@wizarddetectors.com) in the technical help bounces the wizarddetectors host is there but the mailbox doesn't exist.

Anyone know where to get one repaired? If not it looks like technical support for these products has gone to total pot and I wouldn't recommend one to anyone, unless you get the $20 one and treat it as disposable. Certainly not the $100 models.

Sounds like whoever makes the thing doesn't want to be found... Not a good sign.

Interesting timing because I was using the HF cheapie the other day and it wasn't sensitive enough for my taste, so I am in the market for a better metal detector. When I first saw the pic you included I thought it may be better for my intended purpose.

Hope this is just a "we moved and didn't tell anyone."

I dunno, the cheapo I got from HF hasn't let me down yet. Sounds like you got hooked by a slickster. Too bad, maybe they had a good product but poor customer service will put a company out of business fast.

I like my HF wand scanner, too. My lumber is typically less than 3" thick.

which HF scanners are you guys using?

Function wise, the one I have is identical to the 32228, BUT... it looks different...

It does not go very deep (3/4" to 1" max) but for what I have been doing, which is trying to detect metal in lumber (reclaiming process) that started out as things like Oak waterbed frames etc...
