Is this blade trash?

This was an almost new 24 tooth Freud blade. A bar clamp that was above holding a temporary wood fence against the regular fence vibrated loose and fell down onto the running blade. Stupid woodworker trick on my part.
Now it cuts worse than the one one that I replaced it with. Do you think this can be sharpened to take out the damage?

I believe I would take it My local sharpening shop. It doesn't look any worse than some I have taken to mine. Bill

Many sharpening services also have the capability of replacing teeth if it comes to that. I certainly wouldn't junk this blade.

I checked the phone book but didn't find any sharpening places listed.
Tomorrow I'll call Ace hardware and a local DIB hardware and see if they offer such services. Now that I think of it, Hartville Hardware may also offer a sharpening service.
I'll get them both sharpened and, barring any more stupid tricks, I'll be good for a while.

SweensDV is right, blade sharpening services will be able to replace a chipped or broken tooth for a reasonable fee.

Check with like Ace or HD or Lowes or Sears hardware dept, they should have the name or be able to send your blade to a local service for 1-week turnaround that can sharpen or repair carbide teeth.

But first check Freud like Dr D suggested, that would be even better.

Salty, you might want to contact a woodworking store in your area like
Klingspor, Woodcraft, Rockler, they might know of a local sharpening service
that they would recommend and use themselves at a reasonable cost.
Might save you the cost replacing the blade....eezlock

I don't know what part of the state yo are in Salty, but I'm in Parkersburg WV and we use thes guys for out industrial sharpening, free pick up and delivery too.

Dr. Dave has good advice. They know their own blades. Some sharpening establishments just sharpen and have no carbide ability. You might call some local cabinet shops and ask nicely where they send theirs or who may have a pick up/delivery service.

A well equipped place may also have the ability to make custom profiles for moulders, router bits, service jointer and planer knives. For any damage like yours a concern would be any bending or distortion of the blade or teeth below the carbide line. What appears to be visible may not compare to the possibility of unseen damage you may get familiar with pretty quick the next time you use the blade. I would trust a place that had the capabilities of insuring that the integrity of the entire blade is good.

The facility that does my blades is local and I prefer to drop off and pick up, even though they do have a carrier service. In doing so, I establish a relationship with the shop and can get on the spot help with picking out blades, discussing different cutters and new products.

It is Camel Saw co on Hills and dales Rd... They did a great job on my joiner knives and their main work is saw blades.

The damage can be seen best in the upper left of the picture. The tooth should be straight across. All of the teeth are there but many are dull.
I contacted the local hardware stores and Ace wanted $12 and $8 for the 40 tooth(original blade) and the freud 24 tooth. The other store was a bit more on both. I was directed to a place called Saw Specialty and their prices were good but till you pay to ship them it was about the same. I'll give Ace a try first and see how it goes. Camel Saw is not that far away but I've had dealings with them years ago and was never impressed with their service or their attitude. Sorry Lee.
Might still call Freud and see what they say, just for giggles.

You have a local guy so that is probably your best bet but I have gotten good service from Ridgecarbidetool.com. They also make sawblades and sharpen router bits.

The sawblade will be a bit less in diameter than it started but should cut at least as well as new when you get it back.

Well, I called Freud today and was informed that they do not sharpen blades.
So, I got to thinking that the blade I bought is made in Italy, so maybe if they don't make then here in the states, then they wouldn't have any machinery to sharpen what they don't make here....maybe!?
Anyway, I asked the guy if he had a recomendation as to where I could send them and he just said "all we ask is that you choose a reputable sharpening place"! Uh huh, like I was going to let the neighbor do it with his 4" hand held grinder!
Anyway, I droped them off at Ace Hardware so I'll know in about a week.
