modding the DC-650, and neutral vane pics?

Has anybody modified the Jet DC-650 to accept a cartridge-filter instead of the top bag? I am hoping to get the Wynn, but it is listed to have a 17.5" diameter while the 650 has a 14" wide mouth. Just need to know it is possible to combine the two without too much problem.

Also, what are neutral vanes? Loring's vanes seem to be universally famous, but i am unable to dig up any old thread with good pics. Threads like http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=24306 seem to have 'lost' the pics. Loring, any chance you could update the pics or the link?

There was a post a few days ago about (search for) "hot rodding the HF Dust Collector" that had pics of a neutral vane very similar to mine.

Thanks. I did see that page, with limited understanding . It talks of the 'orifice plate' that 'should be at the top'; what is an orifice plate? I emailed them, but guess i need to call them.

Neutral vane extends the inlet somewhat so that the incoming air does not mix with/redirect/disturb the airflow from the bottom going up thru the hole in the center ring. Enhances the cyclonic action so to speak.
