    Oops

Sadly, I did this twice while installing the garage doors.

I'd been using the ladder and a bungee to hold up the end while I attached the other end of the track and squared it.

The simplest way to solve the problem is to use a reciprocating saw on the ladder.

You gotta say that is an original one and you did it twice. Practice makes perfect. Don't cut ladder up cut and reweld the rail.

Does the remote for the door work the ladder too?

LOL, that's classic, as are all of the comments here.

I am forever doing little dumb things that I just don't learn on. The problem is, it made sense the first time, so it makes sense the next time and the time after that too. The only difference is, on the second, third and fourth time that I make a mistake, I realize it a little more quickly and scold myself for making THAT mistake again.

I would just treat it like a fold-down attic ladder. You can fold them and put them up into the rail, and then if you need to get up there for an adjustment, it's got a ladder built in already....
