LCHIEN - I try all sorts of little things - until I gain the ability of you folks - I just putter - I posted some photo in another thread. You know - I do not know if any of you are like this but - I can go out to my shop - putter around - and not make anything for hours. I just enjoy being out there. I re-adjust tools, build jigs, then re-adjust the re-adjusted tools, listen to the radio, brush the cat, re-stack the extra wood and believe it or not - I just put in a full day of having fun. "And the wife has the nerve to ask what the heck I have been doing all day"

Puttering is OK by me, I like to putter around and enjoy my tools, too.
At least it shows you've been doing productive puttering.

Welcome to the site. There are a lot of really generous and talented people here, not me but a lot of others.

In reviewing the pictures you posted of your shop, I think it is spectacular that you substituted the Idaho Falls wood working museum for your shop. No saw dust, everything arranged and put away, logical work flows, and adequate space to work Has to be a museum.

Larry, that is an incredible shop, I am very impressed. I noticed your other thread, and you really need to stop the aw shucks humility stuff--I would say you are already very skilled.

I do want to ask, though. How is your dust collection set up? I noticed you have what appears to be the Shop Vac/Rigid 2.5" setup. What is this connected to? Whatever it is, it seems to be working very well.

Joe - The dust collection is just as you stated - Ridgid 2.5 set up. Each machine has a blast gate to close if the machine is not being used - I have a Ridgid vacuum set up for the draw of the dust - it is a 6 hp at max with a 5 gallon Compact 2 Stage Dust Separator just before the
the vacuum. On the sanding table, the planer and jointer - I have a Grizzly one hp vacuum (4" with very short hoses) for those three items. The table saw has its own vacuum for dust control. I like the 2.5 system just because my shop would look silly with 4" hose running all around it. Plus if you have a plugged line you can see it, but as of this date that has never happened. I have a lot of saw dust from my band saw still - they have a lousy system for collection of dust for it - someday I will close that all in so there will be less dust if I can figure out how. Anyhow that is about it.
