It's looking great! The only regret that I'll have with my new house is that there isn't enough room on my lot to build something like this. I get stuck with my little 18'x22' garage.

    Keep us updated!

      Progress report and pics

Insulation on walls, OSB installed lighting layout for back end started and approach pad poured.

I arranged the fixtures in a rectangle with my two four bulb fixtures centered over the primary work area. I cobbled up a method to hang the larger four bulb fixtures from the trusseThe temperature has been heating up (90's today and Sunday) so work has been slowing down some. Next up, finish the lighting and get some paint on the walls and seal the floor.

What made you go with the OSB instead of sheetrock? What thickness OSB did you use?

I chose to match the 7/16 OSB sheathing that was installed on the outside. Why? More options for hanging items and more durable over the long run. I also hate mudding and sanding.

You planning on painting it? Those walls will be a lighting blackhole since nothing will reflect off of it.

He said in the post prior to mine that he was painting the walls and ceiling. Probably a nice bright white for reflection.

Dave, OSB sounds good to me. I was just curious on the material decision. I am hate taping/finishing drywall as well!

                  temp delays

I have power to the lighting grid but little else done in the last week or so. Family commitments are killing my weekends. I should be moving my big items (benches, tool box and large power tools) in within the next 7-10 days and am looking forward to opinions on a favorable layout. Have not forgotten about the painting project as well.

                  More pictures soon!

                  Thanks for the input!

                    Updated pictures - still organizing

Walls are painted a flat white, electrical on south wall is completed and most of the bigger tools are moved in. Still have a drill press, welder, 5' metal bench and write-up station to move in.

Other projects include finishing the floor heat install, insulating the roof and additional wiring.

After these projects are completed I'll work on getting a bit more organized. I plan on keeping the table saw and woodworking bench centered somewhat under the 2 4-bulb fixtures. The other tools will work best along the walls.

Painting the walls white made it much brighter:

                    Here's some pictures:

I really like your perimeter lighting idea. I think I'll steal that one. I went with OSB as well, for the same reasons. Any time I want to see what I'm missing I'm coming back to this thread. Nice job, my friend. We're proud of you... but, we still have to hate ya!!! LOL!!
                      Blessings,
                      Chiz

                        Center lights hooked up

Came across 2 eight foot 4 bulb fixtures. I hooked these up over the weekend. These are centered over my table saw and smaller wood working bench.

This completes the lighting in the shop area. I still need to add lights in the front half of the garage.

                        Pictures are below:

                          Updated Pictures and tool gloat

I finally have all the big items moved into the new shop/garage and have established some order.

I also am showing off the ultimate stress relief tool. It is truly one of a kind.

As always, opinions and comments are welcome!

That 7/16" OSB is cheap stuff! I had no idea until prompted by this thread to check it out. I am going to get a truck load of it to do my shop! I would have never thought of that. I was planning on using drywall and just not taping, leaving the joints open and screws exposed for when I needed to move panels, etc.

Question : Why did you run electrical outlets on outside of wall? Does that decision have anything to do with the OSB?
