Radiant pipe installed with insulation

Installed my 1/2 pex tubing over 2" HD styrofoam insulation. I cobbled together the air pressure adaptor and stand for the manifolds. Had not yet pressurized the tubing.

Concrete poured!

Hear is the first of 2 loads of concrete. Learned a couple of things - Don't scrimp on the clamps that hold the piping down and be careful when moving the concrete around. System was pressurized the whole time while pouring and held solid.

Walls and Roof go on

Walls and roof go on, It goes pretty fast with good weather. Only had one day of rain so far since this project started. Here are some shots of the outside and the inside. My manifolds will be located under the first window with the heat source to the right.

Old vs new

Thought it would be neat to compare the old vs the new. The old was 20x20, the new 24x36. Over double the space with a heated floor. Losing some yard but gaining flower bed space for the wife.

Radiant floor heat is nice. Our new 60x60 shop at work is going to have radiant floor heat.

That shop is looking really nice.

Wow, thats looking great! You've gotta be excited as he$%#!! That radiant heat is awsome. I have it and it works great. My shop is on the 2nd floor of my garage, so the heat doesn't make it up there quite as good, but the vehicle area is very comfortable. I keep it at 55 in the winter, and can work up a sweat if decide to wash the truck. Now, you know the hardest part is figuring out where to put everything!!

Windows, shingles and siding

we had a monsoon on Monday, but beautiful weather today. Here are some new pictures. Windows were installed, shingles installed and siding started. I wanted the windows set in at 48" from the finished floor. We also applied an additional weatherstrip along the back side of the garage to prevent water intrusion. The back is seven feet from the rear lot line and five feet from the fence on the side. The grade is pretty severe.

Another look at the weatherstrip that was applied. Also showing the door opening with the service door hung. The weather should cooperate the next few days. I think the crew will be done or close by the end of the week. We still need to pour the approach pad and trench for electrical. That should happen this weekend.

Siding, electrical and doors

More pics showing the completed siding, electrical service roughed in and new overhead door. Installed 2 runs of cat 5 (phone and data) along with the main electrical plus a separate wire for working the garage entrance lights from the house. Approach pad set to be poured on Tuesday. Next project is to insulate and put OSB on interior walls than run electrical to outlets outside the walls through conduit and set in lights for shop area. I'm open for ideas on insulating the truss area.
