    Misc DC, BT photos

Took the day off, messed around the shop some.
The DC bag was getting half full, I had recently hooked two 4" hoses up to my BT3000, one at the rear dust port reduced to 2.5" and the other to a belly pan I installed. Consequently the DC is sucking a lot more air and the swirl is more intense and beginning to suck mucho dust off the top layer of the bag and send it into my Grizzly canister.

I have equipped mine with a neutral vane maybe its working too well? Anyway I decided its taken me a year to fill half the bag so I decided to pitch the bag and install a new one. Thank god for magnets to hold the bag in place when installing the clamp.

So I took the side panel off to check the belly pan, it totally keeps the inside of the saw clean. Took these pictures:

And while I am taking pictures, here's my BT3000 tool holder, holds all the tools you need for everyday work on the BT; There's a magnet holding the thing to the side panel. I also hang the arbor spacers on the same hooks with the wrenches when the dados are on. The two wrenches are 3/4" (arbor nut) and 1/2" (splitter and blade guard nuts). Pawn shop purchase loose stock couple of bucks each.

Boy, Loring, that is one clean BT3 interior! Wish my garage were that dust-free! I like the tool holder idea, too.

      hi loring,

i really like what you did with the belly-pan for the bt3100. i've been thinking about something like that for my saw and your pics have really helped me to visualize how i might do it.

like your bt3100 tool holder too!

I looked at the pictures, shrugged my shoulders and slapped my forehead. The tool holder gets done tomorrow, after I've recovered from the Guiness. The belly pan soon . . . real soon. I like the simplicity and, it appears to work well.

Thanks for the ideas. Sooo simple. I'm sooo dense.

Oh, BTW, I think the belly pan is from the HF DC accessories kit, the one with the two hoses and other stuff.

Another sugggestion for holding tools is magnets. little ones work great for allen wrenches. Best place for great magnets is old hard drives. Little work to get some out but they are better than most you can buy ..

                Loring,

Looks great. I split the 4 inch flex hose that goes to my BT3100 with a Y fitting with one side going to the dust port and the other side going to a 3 inch PVC fitting into the underside of the saw. My BT3100 is on a mobile base with the saw on a tip-up piece for easy cleaning. I have a drawer under the saw for blades, wrenches, etc. so the dust port is not in the center. It does not get all the dust like yours does but gets enough that I only tilt the saw up for cleaning once or twice a year - it never gets thick enough to inhibit the saw. Yours works better.

Thanks Loring! Did the DC pan on the BT thing this morning. Took just a few minutes. Was spending the day completing my DC piping and connections and your post was just the thing I needed to finish off the BT connection. Great post -- kudos

Like the allen wrench holder. Will use that on my router table. Thanks.

                      Loring,

I really like the tool holder. What kind of magnet did you use to attach it?

                      Thanks,

That belly pan idea is pretty cool. I may have to do that one myself.

updated the pictures that were lost when I lost my ISP.
Shows what a properly connected DC can do for a BT saw.

Excellent ideas Loring. What is the "belly pan" under your saw, some plumbing item?
