    1x4 and 2x4s.

Lazy in drawing. I wanted to check the proportions but didn't want to draw all the mitered pieces.

Added some bracing to the original to improve rigidity/anti-racking.

Going to add a row of pegs to the side bar for hanging purses and stuff.

My miter clamps for odd miter sizes and angles worked well for these large miters that don't fit the normal miter clamps
I use for picture frames and stuff. There's a 135°angle to clamp next.

Needed some 1" x 3/4" x 3.5" notches for half of half-lap mortise - don't know what you call them

I guess its called a "stopped rabbet". It's really a big version of what you use for door hinge mortises.

Made a jig for the router to clean up material removed roughly by drill press.
Hint, make the center piece of the jig from the same stock you are going to fit in the rabbet and it will fit perfectly.

Made up the end frames. Was going to use Kreg pocket screws but decided #20 biscuits would be better.
The great thing about biscuits is, done right, they line up perfectly surface wise, but you have about a 1/8" of an inch side to side adjustment when making up the joint.
As always a race to get a five joint frame all square and aligned before the glue sets.
Here I used my odd-angle miter clamps for the 135° angles of 2x4s.

Yeah for biscuits! I bought my DeWalt biscuit joiner back in the late '90s and it gets used in nearly every piece I build.

Use my router corner radius jig and flush trim router bit to put a 3/8" radius corner on it to match the 3/4" diameter corner of the router used to make the stopped rabbet..

      - I guess I should find out what this joint is called. - A stopped rabbet? Anyway, matches the notch of the stopped rabbet perfectly. Will secure with two screws.

Looks like you have a new corner jig now. I vaguely remember you had made those radius templates earlier.

I was going to use my own corner jig but I had not make 3/8" radius corners that I needed to match my 3/4" dia. router bit. So I looked in my bag of tricks and found this one... There's several things I do not like about it after this use... it has two drop in posts on each side but the posts are longer than 3/4" so they don't drop fully into place and don't provide good support to keep the template in place. And worse when the posts drop into and hang up on various holes in my router mounting plate (that never gave me trouble before). I really don't like this jig kit altho it looked good on paper, I regret buying it. Mine's better but I didn't want to spend the time making another sized one at that point.

Oh, crap, where in the garage is the dowel bevel jig I made?

Not in the obvious places - next to the belt/disc sander, or in the box of misc small jigs and fixtures.

2 hours later: I have no idea.

Make a new one? Oh heck, just do it by free hand.

If I had found it, it would made chamfered dowels like this:Click image for larger version

Ten degrees - tilt angle for hanging pegs. Used a jig I had made previously.

Put it together - always a relief when it fits. Satisfying to see the pegs line up like good soldiers.
