    Nice video. Liked the way you explained key points. Wonder if a bridal joint would be a better joint instead of a lap joint for strength.

      I like bridal point joints and occasionally use them constructing the breadboard surrounds on large tables, but they are infinitely harder to cut compared to a lap joint! On a lap joint each board has:1/2 of the wood whereas a bridal joint one board has 1/3 and the other board has 2/3. When properly glued together and screwed tight both joints are practically indestructible although the lap joint might win out because it is easier to glue up properly and the bridal joint is hard to get enough glue in.

      I was shooting for simplicity, and with the stresses this thing will endure, no need in doing overkill for the joinery. Actually lucky I didn't go with just fully lappend 2x4s but I figured that was just too lazy.
