I am building furniture from plywood, which I get from BORG. Usually it's 3/4"x4'x8' Red Oak. I finish edges with edge banding. Sometimes it does not work for curved edges and I need to get some real oak stuff. Again in BORG it is pretty expensive. I tried to find good lumber yard locally, but could not (I am not a pro, just a hobbyist). Thus, source of good wood is little bit problematic for me.
I was doing organization in my garage and found whole box of unused oak hardwood, leftover, when I did hardwood in my house. I realized that I can use it. I started to make cabinet door frames out of floor hardwood and it worked pretty well. Now I am even thinking getting unfinished floor planks, or would like to build cd shelf/rack out of bamboo flooring.
Anybody does that? Any other unusual and affordable sources?
Let's talk on that matter.
