Several members have listed BT3100s or Craftsman 22811s (The BT3100 with a Craftsman label instead) recently. It would be most helpful of you to let folks know where on the planet you are. Shipping a saw long distance can be expensive, but if you are willing to pick one up reasonably locally you might just find a member with a saw to spare!
Sorry about that. On the first thread I tried to post, I put I'm in the austin, Texas, area. When it looked like it didn't take, I tried it again, but forgot to put my location. I've recently looked on Craig's List for Austin and San Antonio, but there aren't any listed right now. I only figured out that they aren't in stores anymore after I had read the different reviews on the saws in that price range and decided the Bt3100 was the saw I wanted. How long ago did Ryobi discontinue them?
watch this forum... people are always posting links to cragis list ads advertising BT3's
Watch you local craigs list and other for sale lists
Sometimes they also show up on eBay. The owners aren't often knowlegeable and don't post all the details including model number so you need to be alert can follow up leads for Ryobi saws.
Post your location... shipping is likely to be costly and require packing the saw for shipment. Local pickup will save you money and permit an inspection. knowing where you live might help if someone has a lead.
There were a lot of these saws sold, you should be able to find one near you in good shape.
Good luck
No worries. Ryobi stopped making the BT3100 I think in 2007, a lot of guys grabbed them up on clearance from Home Depot. The saw lives on though as the Sears Craftsman Professional 21829 with a few minor changes, most notable a folding wheeled stand, longer rails, and a slightly different router mounting accessory table. I don't know about Austin, but I know the Sears at Baybrook by Bay Area Blvd has one on display... Pity the hamfisted folks at Sears set it up...
Be patient if you can, Steven. Like Loring says, there were a lot of these things sold, and a lot of well cared-for units will be resold as their owners go "big saw", many because of the good experiences they had with their BT's (although I plan to be buried with mine ). One will come along for you.
Edit: There's an assembled, but unused BT3100 on Orlando Craigslist right now for $150... Freight would be cost-prohibitive for you to consider, being in TX, but it does go to show you that they do come 'round. So will yours.
BTW, what is the difference between a BT3000 and BT3100?
Basically it is a matter of graphics, rail colors and the stand. There's also a "shim problem" that might show up in the older the versions' blade raising mech. Actually I don't really know a lot about any other differences but lots of folks around here can tell you everything right down to thread pitch and size of all the nuts and bolts.
The Sears 21829 is an excellent replacement for the BT3XXX saws. I have one. It comes on a fold up cart that is just as good if not better then the gravity lift found on Bosch portable table saws. This is great for a small shop as you can fold it up and store it against a wall. Some times you can get the saw on sale for around $399. It has just about all the same parts as a BT3100 though some of them have gotten a slight upgrade. The saw is made by the same people who made the BT3XXX saws. The forum here is rife with articles about setting up and the care and feeding of this saw.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I have a Delta 10" bench saw now, so I don't have to hurry. Who knows, maybe right after Christmas will be a good time, because as was posted maybe some people will be selling theirs becuase they "bought up" or got one for Christams. Its good to know the Sears one is the same, even if it is higher in price. I prefer the Ryobi, simply because of the stand over the fold up model of the Sears, but its good to know its the same saw.

I'm one of those that's gone "big saw", but I've kept my BT3100 because it's better suited to some kinds of work than my Jet cabinet saw. I might have the stand for sale some day

I feel the same way. My BT lives on as a dedicated dado machine at the moment. My "big saw" will be the one sold when I get into the new Unisaw as soon as they are out.
