Don't worry, no robes are required.

There may be some other garments you would be interested in, though. Now, where's Thom?

since we are on the subject of bt3 accessories. i have a few question (some of them may sound like an unbt3 guy, but i have only been using my saw semi-actively since last year):

1- i didnt know that half extensions existed. how would you attached them to the existing rail with out causing a hinge point?

2- instead of using half length extensions, can you do it full length extension?

3- how do you attach the dual slot miter table to the right side of the blade (because it doesnt have the same buildup section on the right side as it does on the left side for the table)

4- when someone says, they have two extension tables for it, what do they mean?

      thanks

If you do not have any luck finding a used one you can look at the Sears version of the BT3100. Sears Model 21829.

        http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Table+Saws

If you watch for the sales at Sears it should be under $400 for the saw.

Thanks, Kevin. Budget restrictions will likely keep me eagerness for a shiny new one in check. But, perhaps a 21829 will pop up on Craigslist. Not so easy to plow through Craigslist using a model number only search. There are a lot of Craftsman TS for sale.

kmk suggested using zaptxt to monitor for Craigslist-ings. After an hour of failed validations, perhaps a hand-holder will post a zaptxt example for Craigslist.

1- i didnt know that half extensions existed. how would you attached them to the existing rail with out causing a hinge point? there's hardware for that

2- instead of using half length extensions, can you do it full length extension? most are, extensions are 42" pieces just like the original rails, halef extensions are made by cutting them in half

3- how do you attach the dual slot miter table to the right side of the blade (because it doesnt have the same buildup section on the right side as it does on the left side for the table) komatoast sells his kit on eBay, but you can simply use some l-brackets and t-nuts to attach to the rails.

4- when someone says, they have two extension tables for it, what do they mean? not sure what you mean but probably two auxiliary tables.

              thanks

Jim Frye's article with the 14 things to check on a used BT3x is printed. I'll tattoo it to something. Thank you for the valuable effort.

Loring's FAQ: Just a couple of pages read. Stunning. I'll skip breakfast to read it front to back.

                  Update:

A $99 Delta TS in the garage takes just about two years to drive the user over the edge. Unless he doesn't use it, ever.

As you've reported, there are currently some BT3000 and BT3100's for sale in the Northwest from Seattle to Medford. I don't recall all the many extras offered with it, but a Portland BT3000 described as lightly used sold in recent days with an asking price of $175. There's a BT3100 2.5 hours away at asking $225, but he's using it for awhile longer.

Now, this morning, my good bud (SWMBO) is suggesting I get an early Xmas gift of a NEW 21829. I think it was the hang-dog look that nudged her. Plus, she loves factory guarantees. Given, I'm more trusting. I counter proposed $225 as the upper limit for used with useful extras or wait for a good Sears sale and wait for extras 'til the new fiscal year.

                    Update to the Update:

Stuff happens too fast at my house. A phone call from Judith.

Judith chatted by phone to our local Sears distributor owner and he's selling the Sears version of the BT3100 for $359. It is on sale nationally for $399 and the local store is adding another $40 off for canned high protein food contributions to our local Food Share program.

The store is 2 blocks from our restaurant. She has already dropped off a bunch of tuna and paid for the saw.

I knew she didn't want me to drive to Seattle or San Francisco. I didn't know she was that determined.

                    L

I think you have a keeper there. When the Boss says to buy new - don't EVER argue with it.

                      Enjoy your new saw.
