    Doesn't matter either way for the forum / etiquette.

    But for yourself, sometimes it's easier to append to an existing thread, so you have less to explain (and that holds true for the other posters too, they need not start from scratch).

      that would be a matter of choice depending on ow different your question is and how old the original is and if the circumstances had changed over time. If the original discussion were long and not totally relevant I'd start a new one. In that case YOu could always start anew and post a link to this discussion if partially relevant.
