Where do you buy you sanding supplies?

I went to H.D. and Lowes today looking for 4 X 36 sanding belt and neither had one in a fine enough grit, I need a 180-220. Am I limited to Rockler and Woodcraft as they are the only woodworking suppliers in the immediate area. H.D. only carried that Norton Junk in coarse med and fine grit with no nos. as to the grit and I,m so tired of buying their 9 x 11 sheets for my 1/4 sheet sander and only getting 2 usable pieces per sheet. Any remedies available online?

Klingspor gets good reviews. I've ordered belts and spindles from them for my Ridgid OS/BS, and long strips (3"?) that I cut to length for my Performax drum sander. Always satisfied.

I always stock up when I go to wood shows. I don't know if this is any help but this is who I buy from in Canada.

Premium abrasives at great prices. Sanding belts, PSA, hook and loop discs & sheets, back up pads, sandpaper rolls, sanding sponges for woodworkers, bowl turners and automotive refinishing.

Well go figure, on a whim I checked Peachtree woodworking and can get 10 belts 3/220,3/150,2/120 an 2/100 for $20 and about a 25 minute drive. Guess I,ll go there in the morning. Thanks for the input tho.

I use both Industrial Abrasives and Super Grit. Between the 2 of them, they seem to have the best prices and the shipping is reasonable both places.

I'm happy with the stuff I bought from Industrial Abrasives. I don't think it's the best around but it is cheap and works well.

3M makes the best abrasives I've used.

Check your local Ace Hardware. What each one carries varies radically, but the one by me carries 3M belts in a good assortment of sizes and grits... Most of them will special order for customers.

I have tended to pickup my ROS 5" 8 hole disks from Amazon where they have Mirka for typically $12-$15 for a 50 pack

I havent bought regular paper for quite a while as I picked up a good stash at a yard sale about a year ago. I am running low on the lower grits (100 and below) but am well stocked from 120 - 400

A majority of shop supplies I purchase from the distributors to the trades, like laminate companies, and hardware suppliers. Most all of them will sell over the counter. You might check in your area for who is close, and maybe you can get better pricing and not wait for delivery.

Small stuff like ROS disks I buy local either Sears, Home Depot or Lowes. Larger stuff like sanding disks for the BT and sheet paper I get from McMaster-Carr.

Funny, the guy at Woodcraft suggested I use Norton's 3x sandpaper, which is what I always buy anyway. That and cheap packs at garage sales.

I like Klingspor. I ordered a few specific grits in sizes to match my machines, as well as a grabbag box, I forget what they called it. I've got about a milk crate full of Klingspor paper which takes the hesitation out of changing paper when it's a little worn, kinda like buying the huge pack of razor blades or #11 X-actos.

I was spurred on to this move after I bought a bunch of 3M sandpaper from Menards, and within a few seconds the grit just fell off of the paper. Total junk, probably a bad batch but I was so burned that I went ahead and bought all of the big-boy stuff from Klingspor.
