    Replacement dowel Bevel Jig

I spent two hours looking for my dowel bevel jig. In the end I decided to make another; they're worth having
Made it with two grooves for small and larger dowels; I paste waxed the grooves edges to make spinning the dowel easier.

Now, this is what we are after - consistency uniformity and speed of making:

Superglued the thin stock on the end. Much easier than What I did on the original shown below:

You can make one in about an hour or less. Scrap wood (8" of 1x3) and a 90 degree x 1/2 inch dia grooving bit and router.

Nice jig. I confess I just use my bench grinder to chamfer the ends.

I just thought of an easier way to make these... for the stop on the end.

Just take a 1/8th or even 1/16th or so thick piece one inch wide and glue (i used superglue) on the end of your base after cutting the grooves and before cutting the 45 degree cuts.
It should stick up about 1/4" above the 3/4" thick base.
You cut the diagonals so they precisely cut the edge right through the bottom of the groove.
Naturally you cut both grooves on the same router table setup, about 3/4" from the edge...
Then using the same stop for the miter cuts you will make both cuts, just swapping ends.
The stop piece will be cut perfectly and tapered to match the miter and meet the dowel dead center.
