Christmas present for my 18 month old grandson

Not exactly fine woodworking but I think he will enjoy it, particularly as he gets a little older. He and his family just moved into a lovely new home and I figured he needed a backyard toy ....

Over engineered a bit ... all 2x6 and 2x4 cedar ... finished with Behr waterproofing semi-transparent (we will see how it stands up to being outside in the Texas sun/heat & rain) ...

That is totally awesome, I love it. I need to get my daughter and SIL to produce the first grandbaby first though...

BTW can it be fixed to the ground or does it have enough mass/low center of gravity to no worry about any tipping issues?

It weighs A BUNCH.. I don't anticipate any tipping issues but it would be easy to fix if it happens

I though the whole point was for them to tip

That aside, very well done. Your grandson will definitely appreciate it.

            Looks 'fine' enough for me!

Beautiful build! He'll love it till he's 18 years old, I'm sure!

And I love it that it is fully balanced when unloaded - tells me you made an effort to be precise with your measurements.

Thanks guys ... it was a fairly easy to build project and I do think he will get use out of it for several years. It's fun to watch grandkids grow up and to remember the same things going on when their parents were our kids. The passage of time is an interesting phenomenon... I remember spending hours on an old seesaw in my grandfather's yard on his farm in the mid-1950's. It's crazy the things humans find entertaining regardless of the generation.

That is so adorable. I love the natural finish...Good job.
You should include a 20 lb bag of potatoes
for the other side of the see-saw ...

Just an afterthought...you may want one of these for your see-saw,
since it's a Christmas present, and you still have it.

These custom brass plates are engraved with the text of your choosing. Find the size and material you need to make signs for your official business.

I ordered in the past a couple of these ( not necessarily from the one I provided
                  the link for)

You could put on it as follows.
It would be an adorable and meaning full touch.

Oh, interesting ... can you show us your brand? I was thinking of having small round labels
                      made for our stuff.

My wife gave me a torch heated brand from Rockler many years ago ... it's like this ... http://www.rockler.com/custom-brandi...-standard-head

I got an electrically heated iron from Rockler some years back, adds a real personal touch to items,

It takes about 15 mins to heat up to where it makes a good clean burn, and about the same before I can put it away - sometimes this is too time consuming.
So I made some small plates, maybe 3/16Ths thick and 1 x 2" or so and keep a pile of them for fastening to items with glue and or some brass-headed nails or screws.
