    Zebra Box Part 2

    Here are some construction details:

The corner columns (Corner Post Construction) were machined from 3/4 inch cherry at a router table. The dados were cut with a 1/4 bit and the inner service was cut with a 45 degree miter bit. I machined long segments which were then cut to length. Copious use of feather boards is recommended.

Top and bottom pieces (two pictures) are planed down to approximately 1/4 thickness and the edges routed out to just fit inside the box. Corners were cut out with a sharp chisel.

I have also used corner pieces made from 1/2 inch but the machining of the columns proved a bit more touchy. See last picture.

    Regards, Steve

Nice work, Steve. I, for one, was interested in hearing how you milled those corner post profiles. Working on small pieces like that is always a challenge.
