    Do you have birds?

I was wondering how many members have birds?

We have two birds, a canary and a love bird.

We made wood bird cages for our birds, and I was
wondering if anyone would be interested in making
a bird cage for their bird, or even making them to
    sell.

We have no interest in making them for resale, (I just
didn't like the typical wire bird cages on the market,
that's how I dreamed up my wood cages...we made one from
walnut and one from QS white oak.

Perhaps some of you can gather some
inspiration from our wood cages, and make one for
    yourself.

so, what kind of bird do you have?

I'm not a bird kind of guy, but my Dad loves his pet bird... You have a decent cage plan? Would make a great Christmas gift...

No birds, but I'd love to see your cages. Any photos?

I don't have a plan, we just winged it. I draw everything
up on graft paper. With the first birdcage, I cut the front frame
out of oaktag and taped it together to see if I liked the size.
I also made an oaktag pattern for the front door.
The first one for our love bird we made from walnut.

the second one we made for our canary, we made out of
QS oak -- it's bigger than the walnut one and we also
made a matching stand for it.

My problem is locating the photos on photobucket.
I have thousands. I need to take the time and organize them.

This is the first one, it's walnut as well as the seperate
table top stand...we made it so that it would fit over
the tall wicker stand. We also have a low metal table
              it fits on...
the front is glass, the bottom sides are glass ( to keep the seeds
in the cage) ... above the glass on the sides is the wire sides from
our metal cage, the back is also metal...the bottom of the back
has a bump-out for the seeds and water...we have a sliding piece
of plexi-glass in the back of the bump-out so we can remove the
food and water from the back. The top is wooden slats.

You can see the bump-out in the back in this pic...
we can leave the door open all day, she prefers to just stay in her
house. I also have some pic's of the cage before assembly if anyone is interested.

oops, did this late last night, now I realize I should
have put it in the finished projects section...
                can it be moved, please?

                  Beautiful

                  Beautiful, love the glass work.
We have a green conur. The old woman talks to him more than to me. He follows her around the house all day. Manages to stay just out of reach of the cats.

No birds in the house but we have bird feeders, finch feeders, humming bird feeders and a birdbath outside that are continually in use. We watch them most every day. And, I do get the occasional humming bird in the shop. They are very attracted to the flourescent light for some reason. Love your cages and leaded glass. The wife does some leaded glass too.

I have no birds in house and no feeders but I have a pool and few fruit trees on my property. Between the pool and trees I think I have entire bird colony in my back yard most of the time. Hummingbirds occasionally, cardinals sometimes, blackbirds etc - all the time. In the spring ducks like to land on the pool to take a break. The pool is covered during off season but there is usually a thin layer of rain water on top of the cover - that's the main attraction.
