    Headboard

Here it is, about 4 months in the making and almost up on the wall - only the SWMBO decided she needed to paint the bedroom first.

This is actually the reason I even unpacked my BT3100 after four year in the garage. I probably had one of the very last brand new one left in the world in mid 2010.

Learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Sorry for the grainy picture, will try to get a better one soon.

The wood is Huayruro. One lesson learned is that 1/2 inch is not a good choice for this kind of project. I used a Rosewood stain (General Finishes) and 3 or 4 coats of Target Finishes EM 9000 poly. Since I can't paint better than a 2 year old I spray everything I can, so need to stick with the water based finishes.

Very nice piece. That would be a great addition to any bedroom. It's amazing what a "cheap" saw can do, isn't it?

That looks really good... However it is a bit of a nuisance to have to log in to Google Docs to be able to view it. Would it be possible to link directly to it?

Sorry, I thought it was set up so anyone could view it. Will see if I can change something.

It should have been viewable without logging in by just clicking the link. Let me know if it's any different now.

                  Thanks all!

I forgot I used Timbermate neutral woodfiller. I don't really understand that process enough (it dried white and I was a little worried about how things would look in the end). I know wood filler comes in lots of shades, but I have no clue what shade I am supposed to use.

I wanted it to be flat like a cabinet door. It sort of worked. The wood is very brittle and porous and the Timbermate product filled it easily enough. However, while it dries rock hard, it can be re-wetted and literally wiped away. So when I was staining the wood I no doubt picked up some of the filler. Compared to the backside though the front is still wonderfully smooth and flat.

I also used some Mixol tints in the EM9000 poly coats. A little brown, a little black (very small mix ratio, was kind of experimenting I guess). Not sure it had much effect, but probably made things a little less reddish (which I like, but SWMBO is not so gung ho about).

Almost missed this one. That is a knockout head board. My wife has been wanting one, but after we paint the bedroom. I hate to paint.
