    Phase 1 complete

Phase 1 of the"hanger" is now complete. Phase 2 will be the doors and that will start later in the week. Not fine woodworking by any means, but it serves the purpose.

The cabinet is 6' x 30" x 8'. All four shelves are on full extension sides. Construction was all 1" x 1" framing, masonite skin and perf board for the shelf surfaces. I have furance filters in the top so once the doors are on, I can keep the dust out.

Sharp eyes will notice that the upper shelf is empty. That space will be filled by the new, gasser helicopter that is due to ship mid week.

No need to ask forgiveness for utility woodworking. We all must have our function before we can move on to the form... And honestly, sometimes, it just feels good to slap something together nice and quick...

Very nice larry. Can you service them there or do you move them to a bench to work on them?

Coming along nice. If you can pipe some heat to that top shelf.. when the chopper gets there you will have a "hot LZ".

They get moved to the bench for service, David. My Hawk was the first to be serviced in the new "helo center" this morning. I swapped out the standard fuel tank for a larger one and did a bit of "plumbing" work on the fuel system.

Sarge, Saturday when I was finishing up and moving all the stuff from the house to the shop, I had a Hot LZ! I finally turned the a/c unit on to cool things off a bit!

If the Mongoose ships this coming week as scheduled, I'll get it next week. The plan is to fly it for the next year as a "pod & boom" (while I complete the Sea King) and then turn it into a Huey. I still haven't decided if it's going to be a Med-evac bird or a gunship. Once the conversion is done, then we can really talk about hot LZ's!
